Birthdays and Make-Overs

I think everyone that knew anything about our family wanted us to have a little boy. We were blessed with our one and only son that night. We named him Aloe Rez Flowery, after his father. He has the traits artistic and excitable just like me. Rez couldn’t be happier to have a little boy and he can’t wait until he is bigger so they can go fishing or camping together.

All three children have been forced to share a single room and Angel hates it. I’m starting to get a little worried that she may would hurt my little Aloe. She screams at him when he cries. I’m still afraid of putting her on medications at such a young age. The pediatrician is recommending a psychiatric consult now. Rez and I have decided that if she doesn’t get better by her 13th birthday, it will be time to take the necessary measures.

Rez and I were finally able to have our wedding. In our hearts, we have been married for years, but it was time to make it official. As I walked down the aisle to my soon to be husband, I thought of all the amazing years we have spent together. We have definitely had our hills and valleys. We have had to raise another man’s child and he has managed to deal with all the problems that have come with her. He has loved Angel as his own child and she calls him Dad. We have been through financial struggles. With all the bad we can’t forget the good. The love we share is amazing and we have 3 beautiful children. Our life is perfectly imperfect.

When birthdays rolled around, they came in threes, and this one was no different. Angel went first and blew out her candles.  She wished for the disappearance of her insanity.

Amara’s first day of school was horrible. She was so nervous that she didn’t pay attention and stepped in gum. She was always saying and doing socially unacceptable things. The teacher finally had to write us a note telling us of how socially impaired she was. The pediatrician swears that Amara is a perfect little girl though. Rez seems to be the only one she’ll listen to and he gives her all the advice she needs to fit in.

Angel and her old elementary best friend are still best friends even in high school, but now things seem to be getting a bit more serious. She really depends on him for a lot of things and I pray that he never lets her down. He is a good kid and he really cares for my Angel. I just don’t think she is stable enough to have a serious relationship. Her consult with the psychiatrist went well and he is teaching her different ways to deal with her insanity. I see a remarkable difference in her. She will continue to see him monthly, until something changes.

Rez and I had a long discussion and we decided to make Angel get a job. We have been struggling financially and we can use the extra income. She actually was ok with the decision and she was allowed to find the job of her choice. I wasn’t so sure about her working at the cemetery, but I had told her it was her choice.

Little Aloe is learning to talk and walk these days. My youngest is growing up too fast.

Angel spends countless hours on her cellphone talking to that boy. I have begged her to find some girlfriends, but it’s all about him.

Finally, after 15 years, I’m able to take my girls and myself to the beauty salon for makeovers. We are even able to go shopping. Rez kept Aloe at home. We had an awesome time shopping, getting made up, and eating at the Bistro together. Next week I’ll go back to work for good. No more maternity leave for me. This is it. I have 3 beautiful, healthy children.
