A Proposal

Our kids are growing up too fast. Amara celebrated her birthday and is now a teenager. In moderation, we are allowing the kids to choose their own style. Ever since Amara started school she has bent the rules and tested the waters. I think her rebellious nature is due to the fact that she is socially awkward.

We finally had to make some rules for Angel. This was decided after I caught her and Dosey out by the Bistro at 1AM on a school night. I should have let the police bring her home as a lesson. Her and Dosey can only go out on dates on weekends. She can’t go out anywhere, but to work, on school nights.

Rain asked Amara to go steady soon after they started the 10th grade. Rez and I really like the Bow boys. I just wish they had a little girl for Aloe.

Angel’s senior year in highschool flies by and it was soon time to throw her a graduation party. We also celebrated her 18th birthday the same day. She gained the green thumb trait and will have a lifetime goal of having a perfect garden. She is working as lab tech while taking classes in gardening and mechanics. My baby is grown up and trying to make a life of her own now.

My youngest and only son celebrated his 13th birthday just days after Angel’s celebration. He grew into a very handsome teenage boy. I can’t wait to see him start dating.

Aloe didn’t adjust well to high school and Rez had to spend a lot of his afternoons helping Aloe with his homework. It didn’t take too long and Aloe was doing it more on his own. He just needed some motivation.

Angel came to me one day and asked if her boyfriend could move in with us. Rez and I talked it over and agreed that he could live with us if he would help us finish our dream home. He also was required to get a job. Angel rushed off to tell Dosey the good news. He started pre-med school and started a job as a nurse aide to pay his way through. HeĀ  took classes in logic as well.

Dosey brought 10,000 dollars and the house’s exterior was finished. There was still a lot to do on the inside, but we had walls and a roof now.

A while after Dosey moved in he came to speak to Rez and I alone. “Both of you have known me for over 10 years, and you know I love your daughter,” as soon as he started, I knew what he was going to ask. “I know all of her secrets and I know her problems. I know I would have to risk spending my whole life taking care of her, if her insanity gets worse, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to be her husband,” he told us. We agreed to give our blessings and the wedding and promised to keep it a secret. I watched her get ready for that date that night, knowing what was to come.

He took her the Candy Cane Pier to do what he had been waiting to do since childhood. As he was dropping to one knee, I was pacing the floors. I could only imagine the romantic night he had planned. Back at the pier it was time. “Angelica Mae Flowery, I have loved you since childhood and I will love you forever. Will you marry me?” Dosey asked.

I had a sinking feeling in the back of my mind that she wasn’t ready, but I just had to wait and see what her answer would be, so I just paced the floors on into the night.

  2. Ooh boy I’m excited for Angel. The “Bow boys” make me laugh for some reason, and I hope Aloe finds someone comparable. :)

Great Legacy so far Kayla; can’t wait to read more!

    • Thanks so much. The Bow Boys are funny. I never thought the girls would end up liking brothers. It’ll make for an interesting story though. :) The kids will be double first cousins.

I hope Angel will find lifetime happiness, not an easy feat when faced with insanity.
